Baby Loves Disco

This weekend we had the wonderful opportunity to go to Baby Loves Disco at Lincoln Hall here in Chicago. We won tickets through the blog chiilmama.com. Go check her out! She always has tons of giveaways for awesome Chicago area events! ANYWHO! WOW! That was the best children's event we have been to. I say it is a great event because my boy fits the stereotypical definition of 2.5 year old boy. He is crazy. 24. 7.

The basis of Baby Loves Disco is really in title. The events are held at bars or clubs during the day. You must have a child to enter and there is an open bar of juice boxes and snacks. They had a ton of Honest Kids, Happy Family, and Pop Chip snacks, as well as fresh fruit, pitas, hummus, etc. The cash bar was also open for adults. There is a DJ spinning good, kid friendly (but not kids') music. There are also sponsors there with giveaways and activities for kids. I can't wait to go to the next event! Unfortunately I am not finding the next date yet.

These events happen all over the US. Check out their website for more information!

HOT DEALS!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Groupon! I especially love them for family friendly deals. WOW! They have a ton going on for various children museums in the Chicago area! Take advantage now and use them later this summer (make sure you check expiration and blackout dates). I think one of the best parts of using Groupon is you pay now, use later so it almost seems like you are going for free. :) Here is the link!

A Visit to Children's Museum in Oak Lawn

A few weeks ago we made a trip to the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn. We visited here last year and Nehemiah really enjoyed it even as 1.5 year old. I have been to many of the children's museums in the area and I really enjoy this one. It isn't that we didn't enjoy the others but this one is more compact. Some say bigger is better, they obviously have never chased around a toddler. This location is nice sized, I wouldn't say small, they do a great job utilizing their space. On the first floor they have great tracks for golf balls. A great place to show little ones physics. Also they have a small water table, sand table, police car (with police uniforms the kids can try on), and more. Upstairs they have an art area, woodshop (where you can actually build things), grocery store, vet, ambulance, fire truck, treehouse, stage with tons of costumes and props, and more. I am sad we didn't get any pictures. I can't even find pictures from our previous visit. :(

We usually do things right in the morning. Both times we have been here we have beat the crowds. I really felt comfortable letting Nehemiah roam around and we could easily keep track of him. I highly recommend The Children's Museum in Oak Lawn.

We bought our tickets through Groupon. We paid $14 for 4 admissions.

The museum is right next to the Metra. We considered doing the train because the kid is really into that kind of stuff right now but the weekend schedule isn't great. They do offer free parking (I know that is normal in the 'burbs but a bonus in the city).

Spring/Summer Adventure!

So I started this blog because I got all excited and eager to craft. I've always been into crafts but never... great. Now that I am a working mother of a 2.5 year old I don't have the time either.

I have noticed that we have been exploring a lot. Last summer and fall we were hitting up all kinds of places. The winter was dull. There just wasn't much going on here in Chicago and quite frankly we didn't feel like getting dressed in layers upon layers to leave the house. Now that spring has FINALLY sprung in the Windy City I have so many ideas and plans! Join us on our summer adventures. I love finding free or cheap things to do. My son is only 2.5 so my main focus is just trying to get him out and expose him to a variety of things. We can save the expensive, indepth things for when he can really enjoy them! I hope to inspire Chicago moms and moms planning to visit Chicago.

  A Little Bit About Me
I am a young (for Chicago standards) working mom. My husband and I have been married for almost five years. We both graduated from Columbia College Chicago and have lived in the city since 2006.
